  • Moving Along in Scripture
    ((Part II of II: Stars falling from Heaven))

    Yesterday we looked at Rev8:2-5 here on my blog.  I hate long recaps, and don’t want to waste time on it, but the fact is that Rev8:2-5 is what’s up next.  It’s an angel, in Heaven, given a gold censer full of incense and prayers of the saints, to be offered on the altar before Yehovah.   After that is done, the angel fills the censer with fire from the altar and throws it at us.  At Earth.

    Now, because it takes place in Heaven, obviously we aren’t going to get to see the angel taking up the censer, offering the incense smoke and prayers, or filling the censer with fire.  But if that censer is being hurled at us, I’m thinking it’s likely we’re going to see something.  In fact, scripture says that there’ll be thunderings, lightnings, and an earthquake.

    Interestingly, the trump judgments also have an after-party that includes the same thing: thunderings, lightnings, and an earthquake.  The same thing happens at the end of the vial judgments.  But the one in Rev8 is brought on by a golden censer of fire being thrown to Earth, and that’s the one I want to talk about.  Mostly because it’s chucked at us from Heaven.

    And so is the first trumpet.  In fact, the first trumpet sounds VERY much like the same thing.

    Rev 8:5  And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.

    Rev 8:7  The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of the trees was burnt up, and all the green grass was burnt up.

      Now what’s on the altar?  Fire, blood, and ash.  What’s in the first trump’s mix?  Fire, blood, and hail.  Both the censer and the first Trump judgment are cast down on us.  And if THAT isn’t enough, the next TWO Trump judgments are also things making impact into the earth:

    Rev 8:8  And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood;

    Rev 8:10 And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters;

    That is a LOT of stuff hitting our beloved planet, did you know that?  Holy wha.  And all in a row, too.  And this is where I point out that there are a few fun little things lined up for 2013, astronomically speaking.  I already told you about PanSTARRS (link), due to come really close but not actually close enough to hit us.  Theoretically.  Personally, I don’t write anything off until afterwards.  Then there’s Comet ISON, which is projected to be ten times brighter than the full moon and is going to come close to Earth, too.  I haven’t written about it, yet – but the link is here (link).

    But these two aren’t the only ones.  In fact, there’s a near-pass coming this week.  Day after Valentine’s, to be exact.  Here’s the skinny:

    Talk about a close shave. On Feb. 15th an asteroid about half the size of a football field will fly past Earth only 17,200 miles above our planet’s surface. There’s no danger of a collision, but the space rock, designated 2012 DA14, has NASA’s attention.

    “This is a record-setting close approach,” says Don Yeomans of NASA’s Near Earth Object Program at JPL. “Since regular sky surveys began in the 1990s, we’ve never seen an object this big get so close to Earth.”

    …NASA radars will be monitoring the space rock as it approaches Earth closer than many man-made satellites. Yeomans says the asteroid will thread the gap between low-Earth orbit, where the ISS and many Earth observation satellites are located, and the higher belt of geosynchronous satellites, which provide weather data and telecommunications.  “The odds of an impact with a satellite are extremely remote,” he says.

    During the hours around closest approach, the asteroid will brighten until it resembles a star of 8th magnitude. Theoretically, that’s an easy target for backyard telescopes. The problem, points out Yeomans, is speed. “The asteroid will be racing across the sky, moving almost a full degree (or twice the width of a full Moon) every minute. That’s going to be hard to track.” Only the most experienced amateur astronomers are likely to succeed.

    The reason I’m posting this is because a) this asteroid is tomorrow, b) we’re looking for things to hit us, and asteroids, comets, and our own satellites are always possibilities, and c) with FOUR impact events on the horizon, I think it might be a good idea to state the obvious.  But that’s just me.

  • With all the things that do hit the planet and the sun flares etc-so nice to still be here & in one piece after all this time. Yay for all the misses too!

    Hehe! And so it begins! :bounce:

    Seems to have hit a zinc factory and blown a whooole lot of windows out of some schools and other buildings. The Russia government is expecting more meteors within the next couple of hours. This might just go on all day! :twitch:

    CNN is still just covering the good ship Lollypop. Meh.

  • I guess god doesn’t like Russia? ;o)

  • I saw that.

    They’re still not saying if it was the asteroid (bumping the meteor our way) or not. They might not be able to tell. But the Asteroid doesn’t pass us until later tonight, so this is just the start of today’s fun. And DA14 is coming within the range of satellites (although NASA assures us that the chances are slim that it’d hit one), so there’s the chance of more stuff coming down on us.

    But frankly? This counts, totally. I didn’t see it coming. :kisses:

  • @Anna - Looks like two meteors have hit Cuba now! :eek: That’s a little too close to my neck of the woods! Packing boxes faster. LOL

  • Okay, I’ve got an image that explains why they are saying it’s not part of the asteroid that is missing us.

    http://i47.tinypic.com/2isx7b.jpg Two different directions. Not sure I entirely buy it yet. The statistical probability is that events like this happen once every decade. Just a few days ago I saw an article detailing an usual event that happened 100 years ago to the week..makes me wonder if it is not some debris field we pass through on a regular (long time) basis. It is both all unexpected and (coincidental .. but I’m not a believer in coincidence) The Lord is sending a message here.

    As for the Cuba thing… is there any hard story evidence to it? I’ve seen a bunch of obscure things that may be complete bogus junk. It’s plausible but..  People are in freak out mode. I’ve also seen an image of an ‘impact’ crater through a lake, I’m not convinced of that yet either. I’d like to know though if any of the other numerous NEO’s could be the potential source for this hunk falling to earth.

    Anna you know in reading those verses about impacts.. it strikes me odd that only two of those mention blood in the land and in the sea.. this seems to imply that two of them will be deadly events, not neccessarily all of them.. I dunno it’s just something that stood out to me.

  • Oh! I read a really good article today of course-because I love sky events and always take time to watch meteor showers but this was interesting!

    “Earth has always lived in a cosmic shooting gallery, one that sends about 100 tons of debris plunging into our atmosphere every day. Most of it is no bigger than a pea and burns up long before it hits the ground, but we get at least one basketball-sized object every day too and at least one rock as big as a small car every few months. Much larger pieces come along less frequently—but inevitably.”
