  • Bullet Blog

    • G’morning.
    • And it’s not a bad one, either.
    • Snow on the ground…
    • Kids playing LEGOs,
    • Copywork and morning school done…
    • I’ve got all the Messiah booklets printed
    • … and ready to be comb bound!
    • Today’s big projects?
    • Possibly finish editing photos, for one.
    • I wanted all photos edited/printed by March 1.
    • I got 315 of them edited/printed.
    • Sunday I cropped/paged all of them.
    • It was a HUGE job.
    • But I have that last 100(ish) to go.
    • Comb-binding the Messiah booklets
    • … into our Book of Centuries.
    • ((We’re starting the NT in our Bible readings))
    • That’s REALLY big news, for us!
    • I printed a .pdf that has the life of Messiah
    • in order using ALL the gospels.
    • We’ll be doing the Gospels that way.
    • In order.
    • I’m pretty geeked about it.
    • I’m learning so much, already, doing it this way!
    • I’m also delving into PC optimizing.
    • Apparently there’s a LOT running on PCs
    • … that doesn’t need to be.
    • So I’m in Windows Task Manager today
    • (and System Configuration Utility),
    • going one-by-one, making sure what’s running
    • …is really needed.
    • Cuz my PC drags itself thru stuff.
    • That on top of the dial-up?
    • Not s’good… I do a LOT of sitting/waiting, here.
    • Brian says there’s six years of crap on it.
    • So I’m going thru and getting rid of LOTS.
    • Oh!  And my e-mail is finally working again.
    • Cables at the home office got cut last week.
    • NOT fun… no e-mail access.
    • But we’re back in business, I think!
    • ((Have you noticed I’ve ALWAYS got something going?))
    • Me, too…  LoL!!
    • We rented Jim Henson’s “Greek Myths” from the library.
    • Have you SEEN that?
    • Dumbledore (‘Harry Potter’?) is the narrator,
    • and he and a Muppet hound tell the stories.
    • We watched Daedylus/Icharus and Theseus/Minotaur.
    • Coincidentally, ‘Flight of Icharus’ came up in our art study
    • … the same time as we read about Theseus in SotW/18!
    • ((Daedylus/Icharus built the Minotaur’s labyrinth.))
    • So that was fun.
    • And there’s a new Shakespeare movie out – by DISNEY!
    • “The Tempest”, with Helen Mirren and Dimjun Honsoun.
    • ((R’however the heck you spell his name.))
    • And Katy Perry’s ex-husband, or so Brian says.
    • It’s… wacked, but very kewl – we liked it!
    • It also has Alfred Molina.
    • I have a crush on Alfred Molina.
    • No, really.  He’s soooo kewl.
    • And we love Shakespeare Sundays.
    • I have to put together another adventure post…
    • And a Planet post, and a countries post, and a SOTW…
    • I have a lot to do, y’know that?!?!
    • ((((good grief!!))))
    • Sorry about yesterday.
    • I was under attack from Friday until Monday.
    • From two different directions.
    • One was a new attack
    • … compounded by Michael W. Smith,
    • The other was an old attack re-attempted
    • compounded by a Hallmark Movie & M.W. Smith.
    • Neither attack worked, Satan.
    • So pbbbbbt.
    • Like I can’t see thru that crap, by now?
    • ((((((((Amateur.))))))))
    • In other news, I don’t recommend M.W. Smith.
    • It was a stupid idea to revisit him after a decade.
    • I’ve outgrown churchianity by too far, now.
    • And there are too many emotions dregged up by him.
    • Should’ve bought ‘Go West, Young Man’.
    • At least I don’t have issues with THAT album.
    • ‘Change Your World’ was a *BAD* idea.
    • Yeah, well, anyhow!
    • My finger hurts.
    • Brian brings home metal slivers on his clothes/hair
    • And somehow, I got one in my finger.
    • This silly, ridiculously tiny little thing…
    • But it HURT.  I don’t know what the deal was.
    • He got it out for me last night, but it’s swollen up.
    • Oh!  And our fish are okay, again!
    • Some kid dumped a crapload of fish food
    • … in the aquarium the afternoon before.
    • We hadda perform an emergency tank-um-dectomy.
    • One fish didn’t make it.
    • The water was milky and the rocks were coated in food.
    • It was disgusting.
    • We had a rescue mission to get the fish out of it!
    • But last night we cleaned the tank…
    • … and WoW, does it look beautiful!!
    • I think the fish are happier, now, too, LoL!!
    • Purim is this week!!
    • The kids are ALL about their costumes.
    • They’re even devising one for Brian, LoL!!
    • They made tam-tams to use as groggers
    • … out of salsa jar lids, beads, and pencils.
    • ((I have one that they based it on.))
    • Very clever, I might add!!
    • I’m going to be Red Riding Hood.
    • Haven’t worn that costume in years…!
    • Need to go get tortellini, yet, though.
    • It’s the only time of year we indulge… so it’s fun.
    • Wonder if George Ure is bumming about March 2…
    • TOLD you he’d blow it ((again!))
    • Purim is the better bet, but…
    • I’m still watching the spring BIG feasts.
    • We shall see…!
    • Is this getting long?
    • Yeah, okay, sorry… I’ll go.
    • Talk to you later!

  • It’s beating a broken drum but you should check around and see what dsl prices are – around here dsl is now cheaper than dial-up & the dial-up company now offers dsl speeds. You have to ask as they are not allowed to just up-grade you even if it’s free. You will be so surprised at the time it saves & no more waiting for long times to find what you’ve downloaded is terrible.

Have you replaced your scroogle? I’ve been using https://duckduckgo.com/privacy.html and really liking it. There seem to be more choices since it isn’t google based.

  • May I second the suggestion about DSL? I switched – it ended up being $20/month CHEAPER than dial-up. And switching to Skybeam (satellite) ended up being $20/month cheaper than DSL. We ditched the landline and now use VoIP, instead (internet based). Only drawback is that if the ‘net is down, so is the phone…but so far, it’s been pretty reliable.

My kids are excited about Purim, too! I need to rustle up the ingredients for Hamantashen…I have a recipe somewhere for Coffee Cake Hamantashen – it sounds fabulous!

  • It’s not available out here. Our only option is satellite, and we’re not thinking we want to double our cost, right now. Not yet.

Usually I cheat and just buy jelly doughnuts… was thinking about doing homemade *real* hamentaschen, but… Mmmm, jelly doughnuts. I may have to cheat again. ((cackles))

  • Do you have a landline phone? that’s how we get our dsl and the price is reasonable, the phone companies are being more competative due to cell phones. (yeah it’s spelled wrong, it’s one of those days)

  • The unfortunate fact of living out in a rural area is no faster link to the internet eh? We trade peace for technology.. Sat internet is not the most reliable, but certainly brings you to faster than it is now. Hope you’re feeling better about what’s bugging you.

  • do you use a specific website to determine what really NEEDS to be running? I use http://www.sysinfo.org Just wondered if you use the same, or something different.
I know this on a different day’s post, but had to tell you, I read somewhere today about the solar stuff happening, and the first thing I thought of was, “Anna said something here a bit ago about March 8th….better check her out.” Glad I took the time to read you this morning..hadn’t been here in a while.
