Great Backyard Bird Count!!
Great Backyard Bird count has been taking place this weekend, in case you weren’t aware. This will be our FOURTH year participating, and we just love it. But then, we have suet, seed, and other feeders just 14 feet from our slider door… and woods 15 feet from us. The birds love being that close to the safety of the trees, and we love that the narrow area is so close that they come right up where we can watch them.All it requires is spending at least a half hour counting the birds in your backyard.
Cornell University sponsors an annual bird count to see the bird populations This year, the Bird Count has gone global, thanks to the internet and families across the globe wanting to get in on the fun. Makes it even better!
To get a tally sheet, go to the GBBC website. There are plenty of tips for identifying and counting birds are available also on the site, if you don’t have a bird- obsessed family, like ours.
