May your day be blessed…
I am busy today reading a free .pdf by a Jewish (controversial) group in Canada.
They attest that the calendar is screwed up. I already knew that, but…
I want to know if it’s worse than I originally thought.
Or if they’re off their rockers. Because if they’re right? That means that
we may be celebrating ALL feasts and shabbats on the wrong days.

note: the crazy canook’s did not write the book – someone just sent it to them to share – the ladies who wrote the book live in Washington. Not finished with it yet myself. Still reading.
I know – it’s going to take me all week – it’s involved, and I just don’t have the time to do it in big long sittings. But if they’re right, then everything I thought was true… isn’t? I have to find out. So far, it’s been interesting, but I’m not very far, alas! :wry:
One question – where in Torah does it say that the New Moon is a Shabbat? (Let alone a festival). I can’t find that…..
Me neither. Nor can I find where it says Yehovah is so imperfect that He couldn’t create our world with a 360-day year and 30-day months… that He could only get so close that those are the ‘average’ of the solar/lunar patterns. :wry:
But the paper is actually TALKING about things that pertain to Yehovah and actual Truth, which is more than I got from the church. And I’m not happy with TorahClass right now – they red flagged with their BS about what ‘Biblical Love’ is… Tom Bradford insists that the ‘heart’ in scripture is the mind, so instead of loving the Lord with our hearts, souls, minds, and strength, we are apparently to love the Lord with all our minds, our souls, our minds (again), and our strength. THAT pissed me off.
You take the Truth and throw out the garbage. That’s why Timothy exorted us to ‘test the spirits’ and to use scripture for ‘instruction, correction, and reproof’. Because NOBODY gets it right.
That doesn’t mean we stop looking for it.
New moons are often listed with festivals…but I never knew what the reasoning was for that.
The end of Isaiah 66 – Ezekial 46 – Amos 8 – all those passages imply that the New Moon was on the same footing as the sabbath.
Psalm 81 – Numbers 10:10 – have some trumpet blowing for the new moon.
I just wish I knew more – some of the leaps of reasoning these people are making are pretty severe – but some of the stuff is clicking too. still not done.
Another question (because I gave in and grabbed the PDF. Curiosity!). I thought that Constantine changed the CHRISTIAN calendar, to un-Jewishize it. I haven’t run across anything where the Jews changed the dates; added a month every so often, yes, to re-align things, and – like the Gregorian calendar, some months are 29 days, some are 30, but never that they moved the 7th day.
Maybe this explains it, with historical proof, but at the moment I am skeptical. Trying to keep an open mind……but the profuse thanks to the 7th Day Adventists has my back up. Still, I’ll read on.
Yeah, I saw that Seventh-Day Adventist thanks, too… and it bothered me. I don’t trust easily, and there are red flags ALL over this, but still – I want to ‘know mine enemy’, and make sure I am testing the spirits.
uPDaTe: I made it 18 pages (out of 170) and then said, ‘No’. This thing is severely messed up, and I can’t wade thru that much crap for a sliver of Truth. Might as well get back in a pew, only to the opposite side of the spectrum. So I’m done with it.
