  • Day 6:
    I’m Grateful For…

    • Getting all of our medical bills paid for.  You have NO idea the rig-a-ma-roll these companies put you thru to simply settle up a debt.  And for 2012, we’ve only had one $20 ER co-pay (Aaron’s eye infection) and then our dentist visits in May/June/July.  But do you think they’ve processed the claims?  Noooo.  And do you think the dental people are making sure the claims were received?  Noooo.  So I get to call them, find out they didn’t get that, and call to have the others fax it, then call to confirm that they faxed it, and call to confirm it was received… but it’s done!  I’m paid off in full!
    • Mint Oreos.  This shopping time between dance classes has been BAD news… I keep buying little treats for everyone to try.  Last time I got little clearanced Russell Stover dark chocolates.  This time it’s mint Oreos… and wOw, are those good!  (((giggles!)))
    • Getting back on the exercise bandwagon.  I fell off until I saw a picture of my hiney in the Tashlich pictures.  So we’re back to Richard Simmons at night and running laps around our (huge) yard in the afternoon!  I gots t’do something about my rear side.  And yes, the easy answer is, “Who cares if you’re gonna be raptured in a matter of days?” but is that pressing toward the mark?  I mean, really?
    • Getting ALL my pictures thru August of this year in scrapbooks!!  Okay, so I have two entire books to decorate/label, but they’re cropped and paged and look VERY nice, and it’s a big accomplishment!
    • FIFTEEN cans of salsa.  I said, FIF.TEEN.  You have NO idea how many Roma tomatoes I’ve diced by hand, this week.  (Six loaded ice cream buckets worth.)  And I’m SOOOOO grateful for Brian, who diced the onions and jalepenos so I wouldn’t have to.  And there are TONS more tomatoes (Romas and cherries) and peppers out on the bushes.  Our corn, peas, and beans did terribly with this summer’s drought – even with watering! – but our peppers and tomatoes did really well, so we’re canning a pEck of salsa!!  Good stuff, this time- none of that vinegar crap in the recipe.  Just lime juice.  And it tastes WAY better without the vinegar, too.

Tonight’s haul… AFTER the 15 canned jars we already have done!
    • Hearing from Him.  I know it’s probably way healthier to just sleep, but I do like it when he gets me up at the crack of a.m. to tell me stuff.  This morning He told me I need to put together an SMS post for before Yom Kippur, and to go back thru the Revelation series I did years ago.  So I’ve been up since 3:33am (exactly!) doing just that.  Gonna need a nap with baby, though, I think…
    • Rain.  It’s good for the garden, and has cooled everything off around here.  The leaves are starting to change and fall, that telltale crispness of autumn is creeping in.  I love it – even went and made four loaves of banana bread and got new mocha creamer for the occasion, so we could have a warm cuppa and an afternoon tea snack (which… y’know, I’m going to have to do a LOT of laps around the yard…)
    • Cute kids.  I love that I can stay home with and nurture my kids.  Yehovah has blessed us with cue kids.  For example, Owen, who is now praying at the end of our breakfasts.  “God-a gate, God-a good, Thank-a Him, BAD GUYS!!!”  To which all four kids shout, “NO BAD GUYS!” and I say “For this food.”  And he grins and says.  “Food, A-Men!”
    • … And He’s blessed us with the first side work for Brian since the early months of the year.  Which is SOOO fantastic, because as of Sunday, we have finally used up our income tax return money.  Talk about running it out to the feasts, LoL!!  So He’s timed it perfectly for us.  And I figure we did pretty well, making that money last thru six months of the year!
    • Speaking of, we finally got the insurance money from the camper being stolen.  So that’s been earmarked for a new truck for Brian (should we be here past the feasts).  Or for people to settle up our bills with after we’re gone, whichever way it works out.  But I’m just glad the whole fiasco is over.  And I’m grateful Ha’Shem handled it in a way that nobody else ended up breathing the formaldehyde of the camper.  I would’ve felt terrible if someone with littles had wanted it.
    • Nooks.  I never thought I’d say it, but… I’m grateful for Nooks.  VERY handy when you’re sitting in a car for an hour, waiting for dance classes to start/finish!  I play some intense rounds in Triple Town, I’ll tell ya…!  ((grins!))

  • oh I just had to laugh and laugh at the last comment on your list. been pretty dreary around here lately, but that cheered me up! Git dem bears!

  • BAD GUYS!!!

  • I really don’t understand what the deal is with people and paperwork. If they are needing something from you, you can bet it was due a week before they mailed the paperwork, but it’s still your fault it’s late. If you are needing something from them, processing takes 6 months. Hubs was supposed to start his graduate classes this fall, it’s part of him getting hired as an uncertified teacher. He had to turn in an official transcript from the college he graduated from (ASU) to the Graduate-teacher’s college. Even though we have dozens of them at home, official and sealed, the Graduate college had to have it sent directly from ASU. ASU said that they sent it, Graduate college never got it. Three times. He finally got an email saying that they received it earlier this week. Unfortunately, classes started in August so now he’s going to be a semester behind the game plan. I have literally gotten notices in the mail, delivered on the same day, one saying “we need this information” and the other saying “too late, you didn’t turn in the information.” Go figure. yeah, that’s my mini-rant about paperwork. LOL

Anyway, I have to agree with you on the mint oreo thing. They’re great dipped in milk, but they’re better dipped in hot chocolate. Or crunched up on top of ice cream. Or used as a pie crust. Yum! Now I’m going to have to go buy some! I don’t know if your stores carry it, but Land of Lakes makes a mint hot chocolate that’s wonderful when mixed with coffee. I know, mint creamer is the same thing, but I like the hot chocolate in my coffee better. My treat suggestions aren’t going to be very good for your hiney reduction, though. LOL

  • The paperwork thing drives Brian mad at work, too. He does the ordering for the shop, and he has to make follow-up calls on EVERYTHING from repair appointments to things to be shipped in the mail. With him (his shop) as the CUSTOMER, you’d think he wouldn’t have to keep calling to make sure things happen, but he does. Sometimes three and four calls.

I don’t know how other people do it. If I didn’t have my Yom Kippur deadline of taking care of medical, I probably wouldn’t bother… but then the dentist would never get paid, because their claim wasn’t received at the insurance, so I never got the deductible and therefore nobody’s paying… and you’d THINK the dentist would want his $$, wouldn’t you? I can’t think like that!! :crosseye:

  • LOVE the “bad guys”!!!

Don’t talk to me about my….rear, OK? Because….yeah. We were walking every day, then it got too blasted hot, and we haven’t started it up again. Need to…….:sigh: The swimming just kept things plateaued…..

And – do you like Russel Stover Chocolate? Because we live within 20 miles of the plant….. And they have a store with…really good prices. (Which explains part of my rear… ) I don’t mind making an emergency chocolate run for you. Really. And our candy jar is empty…..

  • Woooo hooo for Mint Oreo’s!!! I still have a half a pack of them sitting in the cabinet too! Dh picked them up for me… I think because I’ve been doing so great working out… counterproductive but yummy!

Your garden did soooo much better than mine this year. I tried getting tomatoes to grow three different times, and just nothing would do the trick. The plants just kind of either sat there stunted, or the one I did get to grow to about two feet tall the bugs took it over and ate all the leaves off of, and I babied that sucker soooo freakin much too. Grrrrr. Our winter garden should do sooo much better. I always have much better luck with root crops, and snow peas. Oh, and kale! We’ll have pounds and pounds and pounds of Kale!

  • Good for you for exercising again!

I finally decided to go and join the gym up the street. I hate exercise but realized that this eating one meal a day was wearing me down. So now I go and get on the cardio-machines & after an hour I have burned over 600 calories and have managed to go over 5 miles. I never did that before.
Once again, I’ve started to lose weight (although at this point I am trying to-I just want to firm things up) I went from 137-126. Not easy at 42 years old.

I just want to say that working out-even if it is a little bit each day-soon pays off.

    Bravo & Hang in there!
    xox
P.S. I listen to really fast loud music when I work out because it is helps me to not stop. I can’t listen to it any other time than when I workout. Now I look forward to my weird music time of the day…
