NoteWorthy News 1-12-11
aNNa’S NoTe: I meant to write THIS part yesterday, but didn’t realize the shambles my hopper was in!! Seems I’d not done a NoteWorthy in a while. So now that we’re semi-quasi-caught up…SEED BAN OVERTURNED
http://blogs.forbes.com/…ame/
Nov 1- British Energy, owned by France’s EDF Energy PLC, has reported an “unplanned outage” at its Heysham 1 nuclear power plant yesterday. A company spokesperson told the Associated Press that repairs to one of the reactors are ongoing but didn’t say when the plant was expected to resume operations.According to Siemens’ website, EDF Energy is a customer of the German technology giant, whose infrastructure software has suffered from a global infection of the sophisticated Stuxnet worm. …By some bizarre quirk of fate, this occurred on the same day that EDF completed the sale of its UK power distribution business (7.8 million customers in London, East, and Southeast England) to the Cheung Kong Group of Hong Kong for EUR$3.2 Billion.
aNNa’S NoTe: Just wanted to mention Stuxnet, since it was NoteWorthy News not mentioned here before. Stuxnet appeared in July, and is suspected to be an ingenious little virus that attacks industrial programs and can change data and cover its tracks. It infected the nuclear plants in Iran and set them back significantly (hence the suspicion of an Israeli source). OTOH, it might be something that could be built on and take out the ‘Net or something. I don’t know much about this, it was just interesting… and fun to laugh at Iran over.JULIAN ASSANGE
http://www.csmonitor.com/USA…deal
Dec 28 - As 2010 ends, corporations are showing widely varying reactions to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange – from cutting off business arrangements to signing lucrative deals. …Assange, who masterminded the Nov. 28 release of a flood of secret US diplomatic cables, told The Sunday Times of London the deal would bring in more than $1 million. He claimed $800,000 would come from Knopf and roughly $500,000 would be paid by British publisher Canongate. “I didn’t want to write this book, but I have to,” Assange told the Sunday Times…“I need to defend myself and to keep WikiLeaks afloat,” he told the paper.
aNNa’S NoTe: And since we’re talking about computer viral stuff, better mention Assange. The Jewish blogs I read LOVE HIM (<<all caps, seriously). Some speculate that he, like Stuxnet, is Jewish. Pretty much every other government hates him. Even as uninformed as I am on his subjects, I think I like the guy. Can’t go wrong with Truth… Anyhow, that wraps up my nods at things that might need to be revisited later… let’s get on to the weird stuff:
BEEFING UP THE DOSE
http://www.latimes.com/health/os-high-dose-flu-vaccine-20101022,0,5321058.story
Oct 22 - There’s a new flu shot in town — one that’s four times as strong and targeted at senior citizens. The reason? Scientists believe that a high-dose flu vaccine will jump-start senior citizens’ immune response and provide them better protection from the virus.…Although the shot is new — and some doctors are unsure whether to recommend it — the medical team at Centra Care is urging senior citizens to try the new high-dose vaccination. “This is the first year it’s available,” said Dr. Tim Hendrix, medical director at Centra Care, Florida Hospital’s chain of urgent-care centers. “We anticipate it will give a better response than the typical flu shot. The idea is to maximize protection for older people.”
aNNa’S NoTe: Okay, now this is bad. TWO reasons:1) if your body begins to rely on the drugs to prevent illness, it slows/stops its ability to create antibodies. Frankly, you’re replacing natural anti-bodies with chemicals. This weakens your defense system. And if you’re elderly, your system doesn’t need any further weakening.
2) The stronger the drugs, the more morphing the viruses do to get around that. It makes for superbugs that are worse than what we had in the first place. This is what I meant when I said we’re reaching the tipping point where man is doing things with results they can’t control. Or part of that, anyhow…
FORECLOSURES STILL CLIMBING
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/report…cle1859417/
Jan 5 - Food prices have soared to record levels around the world, raising fears that poor countries could face a crisis similar to the one that led to rioting and rationing two years ago. “We are entering a danger territory,” Abdolreza Abbassian, an economist at the United Nations’ Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) told reporters Wednesday. The FAO’s food price index, a formula based on the wholesale price of 55 products including rice, meat, wheat, milk and cheese, reached a record high in December. The index has risen in each of the past six months and it hit 214.7 in December. The previous record was 213.5 set at the height of the food crisis in June of 2008, when soaring prices led to riots in several countries such as Haiti, Somalia and Cameroon while others, including India and Vietnam, restricted rice exports. One key difference between the current price run-up and the 2008 food crisis is the price of oil. It is currently around $90 (U.S.) a barrel whereas it topped $140 in 2008. Fertilizer prices are also lower as is the price of rice, a key food staple in many countries. The current trend, though, is worrisome, Mr. Abbassian said.
aNNa’S NoTe: Okay, here’s the deal: in 2008, gas soared. Because gas was so high, prices rose, because shipping costs were up, or so they told us. But now that they have noticed that buying wasn’t to terribly hindered by that (let’s face it, you might’ve hated gas costs, but you didn’t notice food, did you?)… so now they know that you’ll pay it. They don’t NEED the gas excuse. So prices rise just… because. And it’s the poor that will suffer. But just think of the disasters… Australia is screwed as a country producing crops, for example. If weird weather trends continue, there might be a REAL reason to raise prices. Either way, people ain’t gonna be happy…GENETICALLY MODIFIED SKEETERS
http://www.scidev.net/en/news…prise.html
Nov 10 - Experts in the safety of genetically modified (GM) organisms have expressed concern over the release of GM mosquitoes into the wild on the Cayman Islands, which was publicised internationally only last month — a year after their initial release. The male GM mosquitoes mate with normal females to produce larvae that die unless the antibiotic tetracycline is present. In tetracycline’s absence an enzyme accumulates to a toxic level, killing the larvae. The developers hope the strategy could be combined with other mosquito control methods to reduce transmission in dengue-prone areas.
Ricarda Steinbrecher, a geneticist and co-director of EcoNexus — a UK-based non-profit research organisation — expressed surprise that the trials had occurred… She described the lack of publicity surrounding the trials as “worrying, both from the scientific perspective as well as public participation perspective”. Luke Alphey, research director at Oxitec, said… that he had not wanted to publicise the trial until the results were known.
aNNa’S NoTe: THIS should scare the crap out of you. They do tests without telling anyone what they’re doing until after the results ‘are known’?!?!?! Hello, and if the results caused a pandemic? Well, I guess they wouldn’t be telling that, either, would they? Anyhow, makes you wonder how this affects the birds… which brings us to the New Year…CRITTER KILL-OFFS
http://www.examiner.com/environ…yond
It began with five thousand dead red winged blackbirds on New Years Eve in Arkansas. Then dead birds continued to fall in other states. Then massive fish kills began popping up across the globe. Now it is officially a worldwide phenomenon. So far bird deaths an massive fish kills have been reported in the United States, Sweden, Britain, Japan, Thailand, Brazil and beyond. The deaths have included doves, red winged blackbirds, spot fish, jellyfish, snappers, jackdaws and more.
http://www.newsnet5.com/dpp/weat…orld
Jan 6 - First, it was 5,000 birds falling from the sky in Beebe, Arkansas. That was on New Years Eve. The next day we hear reports of 100,000 fish dying and washing up along an Arkansas river. On Monday, another 500 birds were found dead near a highway just north of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Now, today we hear more bad news for wildlife. Thousands of dead fish washed ashore along the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland in the past two weeks. In Brazil, its 100-tons of sardines and small catfish that have died.
So what gives? …Are these kills related somehow? U.S. Wildlife Officials say large bird and fish kills are not uncommon things. In Baton Rouge, officials believe the roosting flock of blackbirds were spooked by a noise and struck nearby power lines. The cause of the bird deaths in Beebe, Arkansas is still being debated. One theory says that fireworks from local New Years Eve celebrations may have spooked the birds, causing them to become disoriented. As for the fish deaths, officials believe the unusually cold weather in Maryland was responsible for the Chesapeake Bay fish kill. Biologists aren’t sure why about 100,000 drum fish washed up on the Arkansas River last week. In Brazil, wildlife experts are still puzzled about the fish deaths there.
UPDATE 1: Two more reports of bird deaths just in. Swedish authorities are investigating the deaths of 100 crows in the town of Falkoping, a city near Skovde. No cause can be ascertained yet.Word out of Kentucky today that several hundred blackbirds, grackles and starlings were found dead last week near Murray, in the western portion of the state.
UPDATE 2: Now its New Zealand! Local newspapers near the Coromandel beaches on the North Island of New Zealand report hundreds of dead snapper fish washing ashore this week. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the fish line the shore as far as the eye can see. Officials surmise the fish starved to death due to adverse weather conditions. But, local residents contend many of the snapper looked fat and healthy. The Fisheries Ministry is currently investigating the situation.
UPDATE 3: First birds and fish…now its CRABS! Reports today say that more than 40,000 Velvet Swimming Crabs have been found dead on UK beaches. And, on top of that, among the dead crabs, there’s dead lobster, starfish, anemone, & sponges. The cause of this mysterious mass death? Officials believe its the extreme cold weather.
UPDATE 4: This one is closer to home…Wildlife officers in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada report a large fish kill in the St. Clair River just across the border from Detroit this week. Hundreds of shad that washed up on shore supposedly died from temperature shock. The Ministry of Natural Resources in Sarnia says that the warm weather around New Years Day followed by a quick cold spell doomed the fish. This is not an usual occurance, say officials. But, it usually happens in spring.
UPDATE 5: First birds, then fish…now bats. 70 bats were found dead in Tuscon, Arizona last week. A man walking his dog found the dead Mexican Free-tailed bats on a walking path under a bridge on December 28th. The bat carcasses have been sent off to the Arizona Department of health Services for testing. Officials surmise that unseasonably warm weather may have caused the bat deaths. These bats, according to wildlife experts, should have migrated to Mexico two months ago…
UPDATE 6: In New Zealand, dead penguins had been washing up on northern beaches for several weeks now. The country’s Conservation Department said penguins, petrels and other seabirds were already dying in large numbers. Autopsies show they all starved to death. The current La Nina weather pattern has reduced the fish population in the area. The fish have moved…
((Update 7 seemed unrelated and reaching, so I skipped it.))
UPDATE 8: I have a hard time reading Italian, but I’ll give it my best shot. According to Italy‘s GEA PRESS, 8-thousand turtle doves fell from the sky last week into the town Faenza, Italy. What’s more, the birds had mysterious blue stains on their beaks. Early lab tests show the blue stain was either caused by poisoning or hypoxia. Hypoxia is the lack of oxygen that usually results when birds fly too high in the atmosphere. Its a common cause of confusion and sickness in winged animals. One wildlife authority surmised that the birds were caught up in a high altitude wind storm just before plummeting to their deaths.
((Update 9 was poaching, hello, so I skipped it.))
UPDATE 10: If you want to walk on the beaches near Charleston, South Carolina, watch your step. The beaches along the Isles of Palms are littered with hundreds of dead starfish and jellyfish. Since the middle of December, dead sea creatures have been washing up on shore. Marine Biologists believe that cold weather may be to blame. A frigid December in the Carolinas, has dropped the temperature of the Charleston Harbor into the upper 40s.
aNNa’S NoTe: This second article actually had TWELVE updates, ROFL!! Yeah, and all of the explanations sound half-assed, don’t they? It’s kind of scary and crazy at the same time. And the reports just keep on pouring in. From THIS MORNING:CHICAGO FISH KILL
http://www.suntimes.com/3248260-417/shad-chicago-gizzard-harbors-die.html
A bizarre scene is evolving on the Chicago lakefront, with Canada geese and mallard ducks gulping down dead or dying gizzard shad. A major die-off of what appears to be the 2010 class is happening in Chicago harbors. Thousands, perhaps far more than that, of dead gizzard shad in the 3- to 5-inch range are frozen in the ice of Chicago harbors or floating around in open patches of water.Joel Greenberg, author of A Natural History of the Chicago Region…. ‘Canada geese and mallards normally don’t eat fish, but,’ Greenberg said, “They are opportunistic.”
Other species of fish do not appear to be involved in the die-off. Makauskas, who speculated that the young shad may not have built up enough reserves to survive the early onslaught of extreme cold, agreed the die-off is abnormal.
aNNa’S NoTe: Is that not crazy? I’ve heard a LOT of explanations, had a few theories, myself… the top of the list being HAARP. You know, our gov’t weather-modification weapon up in Alaska? The one that, when it is turned on, causes earthquakes and the like? What if messing with electrical impulses in the air were screwing with the birds? I read on one blog that fish and birds use the earth’s magnetism to direct them… then I read this funky blog on Tesla…ELECTRICITY BLASTS TO OUR PLANET
http://lemonlimemoon.blogspot.com/2011/01/tesla…29
…Tesla has spoken of being able to light the ocean with a soft silvery steady light. In an interview with the American news he said “The lighting of the ocean … is only one of the less important results to be achieved by the use of this invention . I have planned many of the details of a plant which might be erected at the Azores and which would be amply sufficient to illuminate the entire ocean so that such a disaster as that of the Titanic would not be repeated. The light would be soft and of very small intensity, but quite adequate to the purpose.” He was, of course speaking of his magnified wireless transmission of electrical power. The Tunguska incident was equivilent to 15 tons of TNT exploding. 500,000 acres were flattened and whole herds of reindeer wiped out. Several villages were never seen or heard from again. They simply disappeared. There was no crater, and when the site was drilled, the ground was found denuded of all nickel, iron and stone down to a depth of 118 feet.Tesla stated, “It is perfectly practical to transmit electrical energy without wires and produce destructive effects at a distance. I have already constructed a wireless transmitter which makes this possible. … But when unavoidable may be used to destroy property and life. The art is already so far developed that the great destructive effects can be produced at any point on the globe, defined beforehand with great accuracy” Tesla’s machine was more than capable of such destruction and the result of Tunguska were consistent with the release of high power such as his “death ray” would produce…
aNNa’S NoTe: Tesla was a genius before his time, but he was very careful about what he did. I don’t think the people who have caught up with him are being so careful, do you? And just what are these experiments going to do to our planet? Electricity magnifies things. Check THIS out, from two days ago:MAGNETIC SHIFT?!?!?
http://www.wlsam.com/Article.asp?id=2073704&spid=
A shift of the earth’s magnetic north pole is affecting at least one airport but not O’Hare or Midway. Elizabeth Isham Cory with the FAA in Chicago says the primary runway at the Tampa International Airport has been closed until January 13 for runway line painting. Scientists say a shift in the magnetic north pole is moving toward Russia so they’re repainting the numeric designators at each end of the runway and change taxiway signage to account for the shift in location of the Earth’s magnetic north pole.Cory says this occurs every five years but that O’Hare International Airport and Midway Airport are not affected by the shift in the earth’s magnetic north pole.
The Tampa Tribune reports the “Federal Aviation Administration required the runway designation change to account for what a National Geographic News report described as a gradual shift of the Earth’s magnetic pole at nearly 40 miles a year toward Russia because of magnetic changes in the core of the planet.”
aNNa’S NoTe: So the question is, has the additional tampering with the magnetic field around our planet caused the magnetic pole to shift at an increased rate, and if so, might that be why the birds and fish (who travel following the magnetism) are dying in droves? FURTHER, might that also be why there’s massive flooding in Australia, unprecedented blizzards on the east coast, and this morning…FORECLOSURES STILL CLIMBING
http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/Global/story.asp?S=13826342
According to national news sources, it is snowing in 49 states across the country including Hawaii where snow has fallen atop Mauna Kea on the Big Island. Florida is the only state without fresh snow.
aNNa’S NoTe: A polar shift would change the seasons, would mess with critters, would cause havoc with the weather… and y’know, it’s the plausible reason to explain the rapture, according to some christian sites I’ve read. People with abnormal magentism just ‘fly away’… ((grins)) At any rate, I find this FASCINATING… and, okay, horrifying at the same time…

I think you missed the bird kill near me – just outside of Tyler, TX. They claim it was -well, first it was fireworks, but it was *after* New Years, so they changed it to “weather-related”. Um…….right. Like birds don’t fly in weather all the time. :shakes head: One local station questioned the “findings”…and lo and behold there’s been no more mention of ANY of the weird critter deaths! Makes you wonder……
Passover’s coming up…..it’s when the Lord told His People to pack up and move! last time…wonder if….:rapture:
It’s. NoT. Passover. :crosseye:
I think that too, but that is the next Feast….:weak grin: You know me – I try to be eternally optomystic!
I’m wondering about the symbology in the bird kills.
Very vaguely.
And don’t forget that the gulf stream is all but dead which totally changes the hot and cold flow of the ocean all the way to Britain! I tell ya the whole planet is just so totally screwed! :rapture:
