aNNa'S NoTe: It's been a while. Let's just throw some together and see what's going on out there, eh?
MANDATORY MILITARY SERVICE? http://www.armytimes.com/news/2008/12/military_futureforce_personnelreport_120908w/ A bipartisan think tank takes controversial positions involving military personnel in a new report about national security strategy. To deal with recruiting and retention problems, the Center for National Policy recommends lifting the military’s ban on open service by gays, barring the services from using stop-loss orders to keep people on active duty beyond their separation dates, and requiring every American youth to serve the nation in mandatory national service — with military duties as one option....President-elect Barack Obama spoke during the election campaign of a voluntary national service program, something quite different than the mandatory concept recommended in the report. But Obama said last summer than he thought national service could end up leading some people to serve in the military. aNNa'S NoTe: Well, now, isn't that just peachy? But don't expect too much in the way of compensation for this mandatory service, should it come about, because...
UNCLE SAM CAN'T AFFORD YOU! http://www.760kfmb.com/Global/story.asp?S=10025081 With the economy the way it is right now, some military personnel would rather re-enlist than face a dismal job market. But for some, re-enlisting may not be an option. Because of the struggling U.S. economy, it appears more military personnel are doing whatever they can to stay enlisted and avoid a tough job market, even as Uncle Sam tries to thin his ranks. Rear Admiral Holloway says the Navy is not using an ax, but rather a scalpel to shape its future with a Force Stabilization Policy. The Navy says they want to become a so-called Top 50 employer, and will strive to retain the best Sailors and will maintain a balanced force in terms of seniority, skills and experience. aNNa'S NoTe: And there are SO many jobs to be had in the civilian world, right? Because face it, everybody's paring down the workforce. Even Uncle Sam. Oh, wait, not the US Treasury...
SHIESTER TO COUNSEL TREASURY http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/sns-ap-treasury-staffing,0,322293.story Citigroup's chief economist is being tapped for a job at the short-staffed Treasury Department, which is at the center of the Obama administration's efforts to battle the financial crisis. Lewis Alexander will become a counselor to Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, according to a government official who spoke on condition of anonymity because a formal announcement has not been made. Alexander will work on domestic finance matters, the official said. aNNa'S NoTe: Well, that's perfect. Citibank got us INTO this mess with the loan crisis, and we're hiring their chief idiot to be in charge of government spending. Yeah, THAT makes sense. WHO ELSE IS HIRING? FBI! http://www.reuters.com/article/domesticNews/idUSTRE50459520090105?feedType=RSS&feedName=domesticNews&rpc=22&sp=true The FBI said on Monday it had launched one of the largest hiring blitzes in its 100-year history involving 2,100 professional staff vacancies and 850 special agents aimed at filling its most critical vacancies. The agency, which seeks to protect the United States from terrorist attack, fight crime and catch spies, among other duties, said it currently has more than 12,800 agents and about 18,400 other employees. "We're ...looking for professionals in a wide variety of fields who have a deep desire to help protect our nation from terrorists, spies, and others who wish us harm," Raucci said. aNNa'S NoTe: In other words, they're hiring people to come after us because we're unhappy with the state of our nation and are possible troublemakers and dissention stirrers. Don't kid yourself. They don't need additional help to save you... but to save them.
OUR POPULATION IS BOOMING http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D970HM7O0&show_article=1 More babies were born in the United States in 2007 than any year in the nation's history, topping the peak during the baby boom 50 years earlier, federal researchers reported Wednesday.
However, the teen birth rate was up for the second year in a row. The birth rate rose slightly for women of all ages, and births to unwed mothers reached an all-time high of about 40 percent, continuing a trend begun years ago. More than three-quarters of these women were 20 or older. aNNa'S NoTe: All the more reason for a nice, big pandemic to sweep through. But even if it doesn't, check the next one. It'll make you feel warm n' fuzzy all over... HEALTHCARE GOING BANKRUPT http://www.bizjournals.com/nashville/stories/2009/03/02/daily43.html National HealthCare Corp. earnings were down 76 percent in the fourth quarter compared to the same time a year ago. aNNa'S NoTe: And wouldn't that be grand, the government bailing out health care next? Or better still, nationalizing it. Big government, anyone?! TOSSIN' AROUND BILLIONS http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123125893419357707.html President-elect Barack Obama plans to offer states $7 billion as incentive to permanently change their unemployment-insurance laws to cover part-time workers and prevent other laid-off workers from falling through cracks in the coverage. But the proposal, along with others to subsidize health insurance for the laid-off and expand Medicaid to out-of-work Americans, are sparking bipartisan concern over the potential, long-term impact on a federal budget deficit that is expected to hit $1 trillion this year, even before the stimulus plan. aNNa'S NoTe: After all, where exactly would this money be coming from? Because... there is no money!!! These bailouts are absolutely crazy, because you can't bail someone out with something that DOESN'T EXIST! He's making it WORSE, hello!! FEDS WON'T TELL WHO GOT THE $$ http://seekingalpha.com/article/110669-fed-won-t-disclose-who-got-the-2-trillion-bloomberg-sues ...Going out of its way in order not to disclose documents related to the give-away of $2 trillion, the Fed rejected a Freedom of Information Act request by information provider Bloomberg that requested information about the recipients of this sizable addition to taxpayers' burden. Bloomberg filed suit Nov. 7 under the U.S. Freedom of Information Act requesting details about the terms of 11 Fed lending programs, most created during the deepest financial crisis since the Great Depression. The Fed responded Dec. 8, saying it’s allowed to withhold internal memos as well as information about trade secrets and commercial information. The institution confirmed that a records search found 231 pages of documents pertaining to some of the requests. aNNa'S NoTe: Now why on EARTH should we expect to know where our taxpayer dollars are going? It's not our business... now is it? Hey, guess what, though! I can tell you where some of it went... FUNDING THE TERRORISTS! http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/2009/02/23/2009-02-23_secretary_of_state_hillary_clinton_to_pl-2.html Hillary Clinton will carry a $900 million pledge for Gaza aid on her politically risky first trip to the Mideast as secretary of state, U.S. officials said Monday. aNNa'S NoTe: Now that's what I call a good idea. Give money to Gaza, where Hamas blows shit up on a daily basis (with a preference for hitting Israel - our ally - although they're not biased and will kill their own people, too). Sounds like a plan to me! Share the wealth and all that. Wait.... there *is* no wealth. Hey, and since I'm on the topic of the wicked witch of the west, want a HUGE laugh? ****** BONUS NOTEWORTHY SECTION!! ********* SOLANA TELLS HILLARY TO JUMP... http://www.reuters.com/article/vcCandidateFeed1/idUSTRE51C3T620090213 In a sign of warmer relations with Moscow, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton plans to meet Russia's foreign minister in Geneva next month, EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana said on Friday. State Department spokesman Robert Wood would not confirm the meeting with Russia's Sergei Lavrov but told Reuters, "The secretary looks forward to meeting foreign minister Lavrov at the earliest possible time." Solana, who saw Clinton in Washington on Thursday, told reporters the new top U.S. diplomat planned to have her first meeting with Lavrov on March 6 in Geneva following a gathering of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels. ...SHE ASKS HOW HIGH ON THE WAY DOWN http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/clintons-gaffe-you-say-solana-i-say-solano-1639252.html 7 March 2009 - Hillary Clinton came to Brussels on a mission: to show Europe that the days of America thinking it is bigger, better, brighter than everywhere else were over. But her strenuous efforts were undermined by a series of minor gaffes that left the officials scratching their heads. At a lunch, Mrs Clinton bungled the name of the EU external relations commissioner, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, calling her Benito, of all things. Javier Solana, the EU foreign policy chief, became Solano from her lips. But what froze hearts at the European Parliament was the moment Mrs Clinton spoke about the complexity of multi-party democracies in Europe (compared with just two in the US) while adding, astonishingly, that democracy in the US "has been around a lot longer than European democracy". ...Last night in Geneva she had dinner with the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov. At least his names have only two syllables. aNNa'S NoTe: You know, Solana has to be one helluva scary mutha, I'm telling you. The witch is ALREADY in his hand. He has so much damn power, it's astounding. And *NOBODY* knows who he is. It's crazy, I'm telling ya. But this just illustrated it, y'know? I just gape at the man. He's incredible, seriously.
