  • Only I would pick a Mother’s Day gift that so completely overwhelms me and utterly destroys the parlor.  OTOH, I might gain back my window sills… because it’s a six foot by five foot bookshelf.  In the meantime?  It looks like a bookstore blew up in our house…

uPDaTe:  But here’s the finished project (or half of the finished product – the shelves that where here, before have transformed three other parts of the house, too!):

  • Oooooh! What a FANTASTIC present!

  • V, I am SOOOO spoiled. Brian also let me buy a glockenspiel and a lap harp. Technically they’re for school (the kids AND me)… but I am SO claiming the lap harp. Mine, mine, I’ll share only under direct supervision, mine! LoL!!! So I actually got TWO mother’s day presents. Someday I’ll save up for a folk harp, but in the meantime… yayyyyyy lap harp!!!!!

AND… when we ran back to town to get my car (we’d met in town, got the bookshelf in his truck, it started raining so we booked home, leaving my vehicle and then went BACK to town tonight after mopping off and filling the bookshelf (moving two others AND filling them, too!) to go get my car and go twirthday shopping for tomorrow…

… (rant) My mother scheduled the Twirthday party for Mother’s Day at her house, so that we HAVE to go see her on mother’s day, which grates me to NO END because we just saw her the past TWO Sundays in a row, but I’ll be nice and shut up and put on my happy face, even though she swears she doesn’t observe it and that she thinks it’s a stupid day – yet she has to ruin it for me, if at ALL possible (end rant)…

… and long story not short, they KICKED me out of Meijers and made me drive home alone (how bizarre is THAT!?!) so that they could mortherize me more, apparently (although with the bookshelf and the lap harp, I’m SOOOO happy. The only other thing I need is to get those dadgum chicken out of my bathroom, but that’ll have to be tomorrow, as it poured and was cold, today. (((((whew!))))

  • Ok, now I’m TOTALLY jealous! The bookshelf would put me over the moon, but to get 2 instruments too? WOW!

I have a floor harp that I can’t play (yet). Since Brian’s handy, go to musicmakers.com ( think that’s e web addy) and price a kit/plans. INexpensive, and you end up with a beautiful instrument – I have a Gothic harp, and I couldn’t be happier (well…if I could play it. I can’t read bass clef, but I keep trying. Too many years playing violin, I guess – my brain can’t hold on to the bass line. You will have no problem, sine you play piano…..). Oh – whatever you do, skip the prettily carved “pixie” harps. They’re cheap…and they stink.)

I’m spoiled, too – today I get to go to Half-Price books. Fun!

I’m sorry about your mom….maybe one of your kids will get sick? Anyway, hope today isn’t too drama-filled!

  • Oh, I don’t even CARE, anymore. I’ve got SHELF SPACE… I keep smiling and walking around, moving CDs and DVDs and VHS tapes and books and knick-knacks, and smiling and rearranging and smiling and sorting and smiling… and changing out plants and smiling…

Isn’t it a LOVELY, lovely day?!?!?!

  • ((Back after breakfast to add…))

I sat down to breakfast, and the kids came out with a PILE of presents for me… IN ADDITION to what I’m already floating on!

Two candles, a pill holder for my purse (SO awesome – you’d have to see my purse), a package of dark Dove chocolate and milk Dove chocolate (Ali’s smiling about now – she knows me and my Dove), a purse-size mirror, and three HUGE alligator hair clips (cuz I use them to secure my French Twists that I’ve taken to wearing all the time, and the boys have broken most of the teeth off the ones I use).

AND the cracked open my velvet wrapping paper – I bought this silver wrapping paper YEARS ago, with black velvet on it, and could never use it because I loved it too much… so they wrapped presents for ME in it!!

… I should add a picture of the bookshelf for you…

  • Wooohooo! Bookshelves! They look awesome! Hope you are able to get the chicks moved outdoors today.

  • Fabulous! I got surprised with twin (so far!) Cashmere bucklings this evening! Not as fabulous as chocolate, but – Cashmere!

  • uPDaTe: Best way to end Mother’s Day: having your pantlegs and shoes, Brian’s shoes, Baby O’s shirt, and my mother’s hall runner vomited on by my seven year old. No, why no, that was NOT fun.

  • Was it before or after they ate dinner?

I have been gone from my desk – but I will write up what I have been doing tomorrow – so much stuff. 17 hours of sleep between Tuesday and Last night – means I am a wreck…boo.

    PS the shelf is lovely!
