Story of the World — Chapter Twenty-Four/Five
~~~~~~~ Alexander the Great ~~~~~~~~~
I’m combining these two weeks into one big ‘SotW’ post… partly because I’m way behind, again, and partly because Greeks fighting are Greeks fighting are Greeks fighting. Honestly, you’d swear these people never did anything else. Except that they were into mythology and philosophy and a lot of other things, at the same time. Always multi-task if you can, I always say.We actually liked the chapter about Alexander the Great very much. I just wish there was a decent (and fairly accurate) motion picture out there of it for us to see. We liked the story of Bucephalus and his shadow, and of course I personally geeked about the fulfilled Daniel prophecies at the end of Alex’s story. But that’s just me and prophecy, again!
For our projects, we did two this time around –
the first was a small flapbook that we put in our Book of Centuries:The second was a ‘Seven Wonders of the World’ lapbook. Because the Lighthouse at Alexandria was one of the Wonders, and at this point, it’s a good review of the other wonders from other empires: the Pyramids, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. And don’t forget Zeus at Olympia! I always make my lapbook designs free, so here’s the link for you:
And as for how they turned out…
