  • Chalk & Children

This week’s poem was written by my eleven year old, Lydia Rose.  I was a little surprised when she brought me a poem and said she’d been inspired to write it.  So I thought it’d be nice to do our chalk based on her poem.  It really fits with a conversation I’ve been having on FB about Truth vs. what people are comfortable with… milk vs. meat, churchianity vs. discipleship, ignorance vs. seeking, etc.

    The Y Shaped Road
    by my Lydia Rose

    At a Y shaped road
    I stopped in wonder
    And saw two men
    mournfully ponder

    I asked which way
    goes where;
    they shrugged, turned
    and continued to stare.

    I thought for a minute
    then looked around
    and saw two marks –
    two marks on the ground.

    One was a dragon
    pointing to the right,
    but to the left
    a star shining bright.

    I told the two men

    what I saw
    but they didn’t listen…

So I had to move on
    to where the throne glistened.

aNNa’S NoTe:  I don’t know, do you think she’s her mother’s daughter?  LoL!!  Okay, okay.  But I thought it was a remarkable endeavor, and that she did a fantastic job.  BTW, Isaac’s is the upside down ‘Y’.  In case you were wondering.  ((wink!))  And isn’t it interesting that we each drew ourselves in the pictures?

As always, click to enlarge – although these weren’t our best.
