Patchwork Blog
G’morning. The weather guys around here seem to have it right, for the first time ever. I was in the bank Monday, and they had a TV over the teller windows (because heaven knows you can’t go without a screen in front of your face even for the span of a bank line wait)… and it flashed the weather at me. It said partly sunny Monday, rain on Tuesday, then nicer and nicer thru the weekend. And it was partly sunny Monday, rained like a mutha yesterday, and looks quite nice (albeit cold) today. So they nailed it. Amazing. BTW, I like knowing the weather, but Brian and I have a deal: I keep up with prophecy, worldwide financial, economic, and politcal news, and he tells me the local stuff… because he likes reading the paper and listens to the radio in his truck. The TV in the bank, I should note, is the FIRST local news I’ve heard tell of in months.
Sing Stuff. Brian said I shouldn’t have vented in the comment section of the Noteworthy, that I should’ve put it up front here for you to see. I disagree… I feel guilty for ranting about singing at all, half afraid I’m going to get kicked out of the group for bad-mouthing their idiot-syncracies (<< intentional.). I have this tendency of getting kicked out of… well, just about everything I go anywhere near, it seems. Anyhow, this is to notify you that I ranted in the comment section. I could actually ADD to that rant, because they had me drive all the way to BFE (Cascade) last night to sing *ONE* song, and then go home. They’d said it was a ‘rehearsal’. I do NOT consider a five minute run-thru of ‘Home for the Holidays’ to be a rehearsal. I would’ve stayed HOME had they been honest with us about this. Nevermind my tendency toward logic.
Pretty in Pink. We took the opportunity to go shopping, instead. It put us up by 28th street, so we went to Hobby Lobby – I needed another chalk set and colored cardstock, and Lydia needed pegboards for those fuseable beads the kids like to play with. And of course as we walked around (singing ‘Home for the Holiday’s loudly, because it was stuck in our heads, and the store was closing in 10 minutes and mostly empty, anyhow), we saw cotton candy PINK feather boas. Did I mention I found a pink shimmery Barbie dress at Goodwill before ‘Twilight: BD1′ the other night? And that my mom gave me pink heels? Well, now I have a giant pink carnation hair clip, a pink feather boa, and Lydia and I are stringing giant pink and crystal plastic beads into a necklace today. If I have to be Barbie, I am SO going to be Barbie… but half the costume can be re-used if we do Muppets next Halloween (Lydia’s finally looking forward to being Miss Piggy… cuz she gets to wear silk full-length gloves and Mama’s boa).
Concert Crap. Next Monday is our regular rehearsal. Next Tuesday is dress rehearsal. Next Saturday night and Sunday afternoon are the performances. I will be VERY glad to have it all done and over with, because it’s really getting to be a lot of evenings not home (aNNa is a HOMEBODY). And I’m not happy with the group. Or half the songs ((H.A.T.E. ‘Secret of x-Mess’)). I could use a pre-concert rapture, Lord. Hint, hint. ((ha. ha.)) Yyyyeah.
Owen’s Owwie. The other day, Owen was cranky. We were coming home from the bank, and he didn’t want to climb the steps to the deck alone, and stood at the bottom howling. So I went over and took his hand to help him up the stairs… and he decided halfway up to twist away, but missed the step he was on, and started to fall off the stairs. Having his hand, I pulled him upright, but as I did, his wrist did something unpleasant, and was wrenched. No swelling, no redness, he moves his fingers, but he screamed and clutched his hand, and wouldn’t leave my lap all Monday. MUCH ibuprofen and luvvv. Tuesday he finally climbed down and was playing and smiling, but wouldn’t use his arm if he could help it. I think it’s like a twisted ankle. I feel so badly (although falling on the landscape bricks might’ve been just as bad or worse a fate). Poor baby. This morning he’s using it, but carefully and with much favoring of it. So it’s getting better… but that’s no fun.
Picture Project. I’ve wanted (for a LONG time) to put together an index of pictures to be used in the Book of Centuries. It’s a pain to re-invent the wheel to get pictures you need that are free on-line. Twaddle-free and classic. I should’ve done this from the start, because now I have to go back and try to find the pictures I printed off for the past few years. No easy task! I’ve got about half done, but…
Rinse & Repeat. I was stupid. When I put together our Book of Centuries, our Mapbooks, and our Nature Notebooks, I didn’t do it for ALL the kids. I should’ve. Now I’m having to go back and piece things together for the littler ones, and it’s just MISERY finding everything the second time around. Mom-teachers, do it ALL at once. Seriously. Cause it’s disastrous to do it twice.
Weekend Projects. We’re talking about doing some big projects this weekend. Drywalling the boys’ closet. Putting up industrial shelving, putting away outdoor toys for the winter. Fun stuff like that. I would LOVE to see it done. It would be so nice… because I’m eyeing up the boy bathroom, and it needs some SERIOUS new flooring… which is already bought and ready and waiting in the basement… but further down the list. So… we shall see!
Today!! I… am going away in the AFTERNOON (jump back!) because tomorrow is Turkey Day, then comes Black Friday and Psycho weekend. So we’re doing two libraries (I need Asansi books for the kids and would like to read ‘Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’, myself, I think). Then I have to hit the pharmacy and grocery store, and would like to do it all BEFORE Brian gets out of work, so we can have an evening HOME together. Maybe doing chalk art, maybe playing ‘Clue’, maybe cuddling on the bed with books.

Your weekend sounds a lot like ours…..busy. :sigh: I’d like to have just 1 weekend FREE, y’know? Ah, well…..plenty of time for that later.
Re: Rapture. I got a new book last weekend: “The Jewish Holidays A Guide and Commentary” by Michael Strassfeld. It’s…..OK, it’s *Jewish*, so no mention of Messiah having fulfilled some of the Feasts, BUT…..I read Hanukkah, and moved on to Pesach (so I could start prepping – Steven wants to “do it right” this year)…and….and…..it says that it is Tradition that as G-d revealed Himself to the Hebrews on Passover, He will do it AGAIN on a Passover in the future. (I can’t find the exact quote…but basically it implies that *traditionally*, He will be revealed ON Passover.) Which, Yeshua WAS……but this has me wondering if He will come again on Passover (AFTER the Rapture, I mean – because Passover is AFTER the 6-month mark….and has already BEEN fulfilled). I was *geeked*…..there’s a lot of mention of Future Messiah fulfillment – which also geeked me.
@fiberaddict - ANNA, ANNA, ANNA – you gotta go read this: http://m15m.livejournal.com/22931.html Breaking Dawn in 15 minutes.
Happy turkey-day!! (I should, in the name of full disclosure, report that there is….language. No worse than her other M15M, but….it’s still hysterical!
Poor Owen! I hope his arm gets better soon! You might finally be able to take a breather after all the sing stuff and turkey day gets done. I was telling Dav about your news worthy post, and he told me that he was going to have to start reading your blogs. :spin:
